GPD seeks owner of 16 marijuana plants

Gainesville Police are searching for the owner of 16 marijuana plants.

The plants, found Tuesday by an off-duty Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputy, were located under a bush on Northwest 45th Street, just south of Norton Elementary School, according to a GPD incident report.

At about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Deputy Jack Miller was walking his dogs when he noticed the plants hidden near a small path and dialed 911, according to the report.

The plants were processed into evidence until “the rightful owners can be found,” according to a post on GPD’s Facebook page.

At the spot where the plants were found, officers left a handwritten note written on a brown paper bag.

“We have your weed. Call 911 to identify or claim it,” the note reads.
