University Police arrested two men over two days for reported involvement in motorcycle-related crimes.

About 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Michael G. Wilson, 19, ran his motorcycle into an officer who was directing traffic at the intersection between Museum Road and Gale Lemerand Drive, according to a police report.

Wilson is a UF engineering freshman, UF spokesman Steve Orlando said.

An officer later found the motorcycle at Hume Commons — listed as Wilson’s residence in the police report — before Wilson reportedly jumped on and drove away.

Wilson temporarily escaped on Woodlawn Drive by speeding through heavy traffic, according to the report.

Police arrested Wilson on charges of aggravated battery and failure to obey police orders, along with two charges of resisting an officer.

Authorities took him to the Alachua County Jail, where he was released Sunday afternoon on his own recognizance.

As of press time, Wilson could not be reached for comment.

About 3 a.m. the next day, Scott W. Brogan, 21, of Ocala, drove more than 100 mph on West University Avenue, where the speed limit is 35 mph, according to a police report. With a passenger on board, Brogan evaded two officers before crashing at 17000 W. Newberry Ave.

Police arrested Brogan on a charge of attempting to elude a police officer and took him to the Alachua County Jail where, as of press time, he remains in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
