The Gators women’s golf team currently is in first place at The Ally at Old Waverly.
The team shot a combined 8-under-par Monday, led by sophomore Marina Escobar Domingo and senior Addie Baggarly. They are both tied for second individually, having each shot a 4-under-par 68 and are one stroke behind the leader, Ingrid Lindbald from LSU. Baggarly and Domingo each totaled five birdies in the first round of play, as did sophomore Annabell Fuller.
Fuller also had a notable performance for UF today, shooting 1-under-par. She is tied for 10th. Freshman Maisie Filler shot 1-over-par and is tied for 28th, and freshman Sara Ericsson shot a 12-over-par in her first career collegiate start.
After finishing sixth in their first tournament, the Gators squad now holds a 3-stroke advantage entering Tuesday. They have three individual golfers in the top ten currently, tied with South Carolina and Ole Miss for the most of the field.
The Gators had 17 birdies on the day, good for third most in the tournament. They were also one of just three teams with an eagle, as Filler shot a two on the par-4 fourth hole.
The Gators look to keep the momentum rolling into Tuesday. They tee off at 10:30 a.m. Scoring will be updated live on Golfstat.com.
