A recent UF graduate has been crowned Miss North Carolina USA, earning her a shot at the Miss USA pageant title.

Andrea Duke, who graduated from UF in December with a master's degree in management, will participate in the national pageant today in Las Vegas, according to a news release from UF's Hough Graduate School of Business.

Duke has worked to spread awareness of breast cancer and the dangers of eating disorders over the past few years, the release states.

She also played volleyball as an undergraduate at Wofford College in South Carolina and majored in French.

If she earns the pageant title, Duke will be the 56th Miss USA.

"I can't say enough about how supportive the faculty and staff have been," Duke stated in the release.

"I could not be more excited and proud to be a part of THE Gator Nation and to be a fellow Gator."
