Staff and students from UF’s College of Education have revamped its website.

Tom Dana, the associate dean for academic affairs, and Jason Arnold, the associate director of e-Learning, technology and creative services for the college, spearheaded the recent relaunch. Two students also worked on it.

The new website took a month to complete and a year to plan, Dana said. The college wanted to make the website student-friendly.

“The website needed to be more student-focused and needed to be focused on recruiting students to the University of Florida and retaining them once they get here,” he said.

Data he collected showed the website’s visitors were primarily looking for student services, including programs offered at the college, Dana said.

The first thing students see on the new website is a link to all programs offered, which is the main item students search for, Arnold said.

Kendall Messersmith, a UF elementary education junior, said she’s glad the college redid its website.

“By taking pride in the new website, the College of Education is taking pride in itself and the work being done,” the 21-year-old said.

When students first enter the website, they see a slideshow of the college’s honors, monetary awards and student profiles.

“We want to give all students access to what it’s like to be a part of the community that we have on-site here at Norman Hall and around the university,” Arnold said.
