Austin Simmons flipped his commitment to Ole Miss Saturday, June 17, 2023.

DJ Lagway, a highly touted five-star quarterback recruit out of Willis, Texas, officially signed his national letter of intent to the University of Florida Wednesday afternoon.

Lagway committed to the Gators Dec. 7, 2022, and he is one of two five-star commits the Gators had a verbal commitment from. Five-star defensive tackle LJ McCray was supposed to sign with the Gators earlier Wednesday but pushed his announcement back.

During his senior year with Willis High School, Lagway recorded 4,604 passing yards, 957 rushing yards, 58 touchdown passes and 16 touchdowns on the ground.

His performance during his final high school season earned him the 2023 MaxPreps National Player of the Year award, which was announced Tuesday.
