UF President Kent Fuchs confirmed in an announcement Tuesday that the university will reopen in the Fall. The announcement comes one day after the Florida Board of Governors said it is preparing to reopen university campuses in the Fall.
The Board said it has put together a task force to prioritize the safe return of students and faculty to campus, according to the press release. UF is one of the 12 public universities under the State University System that the Board oversees.
Fuchs said UF has put together a team dedicated to welcoming students and faculty back to campus.
“Guided by the experts at UF Health, we are confident that we can implement smart,
comprehensive practices that will enable a thriving, well-functioning campus and surrounding community this Fall as the local, state, national and global COVID-19 situations continue to evolve,” Fuchs said in the statement.
UF administrators are set to present a reopening plan to the Board on June 23, according to the statement.
Fuchs said that more details regarding Fall will be announced regularly in the weeks ahead.
