Cindy Bathelt, a freshman setter for the Gators in 2008, will not be returning for her sophomore season.

The Gators' 2009 volleyball roster does not list Bathelt, and a statement from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs confirms Bathelt's decision to transfer.

Bathelt, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., made the move because of her desire to be closer to home, according to UF spokesman Sean Cartell.

As a freshman, Bathelt led the Gators in assists with 623 while playing in all of the team's 31 matches.

"Cindy is a very good player who will fit in nicely with our program and its objectives," UCCS coach Keith Barnett said in a statement. "She knows most of the players on the team already as she is from in town."

During the offseason, UF added two setters: junior transfer Brynja Rodgers from New Mexico State and freshman Sundai Weston.

Rodgers should be a natural fit in UF's 6-2 offense, as she was part of a similar system at NMSU.
