Voter registration for the 2010 election ended Monday evening with 2,669 less registered voters in Alachua County than in 2009.
The number of registered Gainesville voters reached 72,550 Monday.
The change in numbers could have resulted from the required file-maintenance that’s performed during off-year elections, according to Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Pam Carpenter.
For comparison, Levy County has 24,477 registered voters, and Suwannee County has 24,419 registered voters as of Monday.
Any registration forms the Supervisor of Elections Office receives postmarked before today’s deadline will be processed, Carpenter said.
