The Florida Gators stayed in Gainesville to compete in the Florida University Last Chance Meet Thursday.
Redshirt junior Jalen Chance took the first title of the day in the men’s long jump with a mark of 7.37 meters.
The Gators’ second title was claimed by freshman Logan Montgomery in the next event — shot put. He threw a distance of 17.37 meters, a new Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track facility record.
Freshman Alida Van Daalen continues improving in shot put. In last week’s Tyson Invitational, she earned the sixth-best mark in school history. This week she produced the third best. With a distance of 14.73 meters, she earned another first-place spot for Florida.
Redshirt senior Imani Carothers finished first in the 60-meter hurdles; she finished in 8.18 seconds, a new Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track facility record. Redshirt sophomore Jayla Hollis finished in second place.
Senior Grace Stark — in her first race of the season — earned another title in the women’s 60-meter with a time of 7.38 seconds.
Redshirt freshman Eoin McNally also made his season debut in the meet and took first in the men’s 800-meter.
The Gators’ seventh title was claimed in the men’s mile by redshirt sophomore Reed Legg. Ryan Miller took second, producing a new personal best.
Florida’s men’s team swept the 3000-meter. Redshirt senior Cavan Wilson and redshirt freshmen Aiden Villasuso, Josh Stern and Orlando Cicilioni took the highest times, respectively. Wilson and Cicilioni achieved new personal bests.
For the next competition, the Gators will travel back to Arkansas for the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championship Feb. 24-25.
