Police arrested four Gainesville teenagers — one of whom told officers the group had burglarized 10 cars — on Tuesday, Gainesville Police said.

Jarod Austin Sherrod, 19, was driving the car of Ethan Kai Grady, 19, with Charles Dylan Land, 19, and a 15-year-old at about 3 a.m. when police, who were canvassing the neighborhood near Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park for a suspicious car a resident saw, stopped them, according to an arrest report.

Police searched Grady’s car and found prescription pill bottles with another person’s name on them and other items officers said looked like they had been stolen.

A case of Bud Light beer was found in the car, and police discovered Bud Light beer cans at the scenes of car burglaries in the neighborhood, according to the report. Police said the cans at those cars and in Grady’s car were still cold.

Grady told detectives he and the group went car hopping in the neighborhood, according to the report. He estimated they burglarized about 10 cars in about 15 minutes before police stopped them.

Police arrested Sherrod, Grady and Land on charges of burglary and petty theft and took them to the Alachua County Jail. As of press time, the minor Grady and Land are being held in lieu of bonds worth $112,000, $109,500 and $129,500 respectively.

Because the 15-year-old is a minor, his custody information is unknown.
