Former Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who
was dismissed from the team in April after a second marijuana
charge, will continue his college career at North Alabama and forgo
the NFL supplemental draft.
Ex-Auburn coach Terry Bowden confirmed
Wednesday night that Jenkins signed a scholarship with the Division
II school. Jenkins is
eligible to play this season for the Lions, his last year of
eligibility.
A former All-Southeastern Conference corner,
Jenkins was regarded as a potential first-round draft pick in this
year’s NFL draft but returned to school after undergoing surgery on
an injured shoulder.
But after his second marijuana arrest in three
months, and third arrest while at UF, new Florida coach Will
Muschamp announced that the Gators and Jenkins were parting
ways.
Jenkins pleaded no contest to his April
misdemeanor charge and paid $421 in fines.
