If you haven’t noticed, it’s been wet lately.
Since Monday, Gainesville has seen about an inch and a half of rain along with tornado warnings and hail, according to the National Weather Service in Jacksonville.
Mike Roosa, a criminology senior at UF, said he didn’t have much trouble with the gloomy weather on Thursday.
But when it does rain, he uses his blue-and-orange-striped, big umbrella to stay dry.
Though it may seem like a lot of rain, Gainesville still finished more than an inch and a half below the normal rainfall amount for the month of March at 2.46 inches, according to National Weather Service.
For the year, Gainesville is also below average with 9.73 inches of rainfall compared to the normal rate of 11.04 inches.
Meagan Kaufman, trudged around the UF campus in her red-trimmed, black rain boots Thursday to avoid the puddles.
“I wish I was wearing flip-flops right now instead,” said Kaufman, a health science junior.
While the weather has gotten steadily worse throughout the week, the National Weather Service predicts today and this weekend to be sunny and windy. Today’s forecast calls for a high of 77 degrees, with weekend highs in the mid-80s.
