A new UF club will teach students to bake next Fall.
Jozie Fuller, a UF journalism freshman, posted on the UF Class of 2019 Facebook page Wednesday, asking students if they would want to start a baking club. -
Fuller said she did not think the idea would get the reaction it did.
“My inbox is exploding with kids who are excited to help or are just thanking me for putting the idea out there,” the 19-year-old said.
The club will allow students to share and learn recipes while de-stressing from schoolwork, she said.
Fuller said she hopes the club will serve as a relaxation outlet for students.
“I honestly just want members to have fun, learn a few new skills and make a lot of new friends,” she said.
She plans to hold the first information session Wednesday at noon on the Plaza of the Americas. Registration for new student organizations begins in August, and Fuller is working on making Shakin’ Bakin’ Gators an official UF club.
She’s still figuring out funding and a meeting space, she said.
Joshua Karg, a UF history freshman, said he hopes to learn dessert recipes from his peers.
“I would love to learn to make a killer key lime pie,” the 19-year-old said. “It’s one of my favorite desserts, but I don’t think my own recipe does it justice.”
