Hallelujah!
Sorry for the religious overtones, but someone deserves high praise for this.
Thanks to Student Government and Aramark, the company that provides UF's dining services, credit cards will be accepted on campus.
Finally, we will be able to buy some waffle fries and a frappuccino even if we don't have any cash and our Gator 1 card balance is hovering near ,0.00.
Only a few on-campus eateries - Capeesh, Little Hall Express, Graham Oasis and Beaty Market - currently accept the cards, but within two weeks the rest of our campus dining locations should fully accept plastic. The best part is, using a credit card won't incur a surcharge, which was one reason it's taken so long to get cards on campus in the first place.
Kudos to Senate President Pro-Tempore Kevin Reilly, who led the project. No longer will we starve on campus.
But every rose has its thorns. This is sure to make lines longer at the more popular on-campus eateries. And we hope local restaurants across University Avenue don't lose business because of this. But the worst part? Now we'll blow all of our paychecks on Smirnoff Ices in the Orange & Brew.
