In a letter to the editor last January, I expressed concern over UF's decision to use Mobile Campus to provide emergency text messages.
These concerns returned Tuesday night when many students received a message that read, "The monkey got out of the cage," from a Mobile Campus number. During a real emergency, the system could be flooded with messages such as this one to prevent or delay the sending of emergency messages.
This is a clear threat to our safety, and these security issues must be addressed.
