A Balls sports bar bartender was arrested Thursday after driving drunkenly, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office said.

Benjamin Wienges Brandner, 27, was driving his gray 1992 Subaru 60 mph on East University Avenue, near Morningside Nature Center, in a 45 mph zone when police pulled him over, according to an arrest report.

Deputies said Brandner had difficulties balancing and smelled like alcohol. Brandner had vomit in his beard and in his car, according to the report.

When deputies asked him where he was going, Brandner changed his answers, according to the report. He spelled his name wrong and fell twice.

Brandner refused to perform field sobriety exercises or take a breathalyzer test, according to the report.

Authorities took Brandner to Alachua County Jail where he was released Thursday on his own recognizance.

Neither Balls sports bar nor Brandner could be reached for comments.
