In honor of the NCAA Tournament, UF’s Zipcar program created #ZipMadness.

Campus ambassadors will periodically bring small hoops and basketballs to places such as Turlington Plaza, the Plaza of the Americas and the Stephen C. O’Connell Center, said Michelle Mogil, a Zipcar ambassador.

Lindsay Wester, a spokeswoman for Zipcar, said students can upload videos of their trick shots to Instagram for a chance to win one of several prizes.

“We wanted to rally school spirit around the big (NCAA) basketball tournament by creating a fun, engaging way for students to take part in their own contest,” Wester said.

Campus ambassador Danielle Vargas said Zipcar is holding the contest for the first time.

The submission, Vargas said, must be accompanied by two official hashtags and meet the April 4 deadline.

A panel of judges will pick winning videos on April 8, according to the Zipcar website.

“This is a new effort to really get college students involved and interested in Zipcar by making it relatable, fun and friendly,” said Vargas, a 19-year-old UF natural resource conservation sophomore.

She said Zipcar gives students access to cars that include gas and insurance for hourly, daily or monthly fees. Mogil, a 21-year-old UF economics senior, said Zipcar has 18 campus parking spots, and international licenses are accepted.

“Even if you have a car, we all know it can be a pain to take your car out of those sacred parking spots once you’ve found one,” she said.
