Gainesville Police arrested a 28-year-old man Tuesday after he sold marijuana to undercover officers, according to a GPD arrest report. The sting was in response to residents’ complaints about drug dealing in the area.

At about 1 p.m., two on-duty, undercover officers drove into Candlelight Estates Mobile Home Community, located at 1600 NE 12th Ave.

The officers met Walter Bernard Summers Jr. in front of a lot and asked if he had any “mollies,” but Summers said he didn’t have any. An officer then asked if he had any weed, and Summers said yes, according to the report.

One of the officers gave him $20, and Summers went into a nearby home, returning with 7.2 grams of marijuana that he handed over.

When uniformed officers appeared, Summers ran through the trailers and jumped a 4-foot fence, according to the report.

He then gave up and put his hands in the air, saying “OK, you got me,” according to the report.

Officers also found a bag filled with 1.4 grams of marijuana in his left pants pocket.

Bernard was charged with selling a controlled substance and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, according to the report.

He was booked into the Alachua County Jail at about 1:30 p.m. and was released Wednesday after meeting a $10,000 bond.
