The current Accent staff has not been able to reach the bar set by previous Accent staffs. While it has brought notable and interesting speakers, it has not provided accommodating environments for UF students.
The last two major events Accent has produced have been mired in controversy and unhappiness within the student body and the general public of Gainesville. The latest event put on by Accent, the Bill Nye "The Science Guy" speech, showed the Accent staff's incompetence. A simple poll of the student body would have indicated a large interest toward this event, and Accent could have easily learned that a larger venue was required. These two events have cast a dark cloud over the reputation of Accent and UF.
Hopefully, Accent will learn from its mistakes and put on a successful event all students can enjoy in the future.
