Jim McElwain’s first coaching staff is complete.
UF announced the hire of Kerry Dixon II as wide receivers coach on Tuesday.
Dixon brings a decade of experience on the offensive side of the ball throughout his career.
"Kerry is a young, energetic, up-and-coming coach," McElwain said in a release.
"He has strong recruiting ties throughout the state and as a former offensive coordinator he will bring value to the offensive game plan."
Dixon, a native of Houston, has spent the last three seasons in the state of Florida coaching running backs at FIU and FAU.
Prior to that, Dixon coached running backs at Montana State and was the offensive coordinator at Stillman College.
Dixon steps into a coaching position that has been in a constant state of flux.
For the last five seasons, no coach has spent more than one year at the position and it’s experienced strange exits like Aubrey Hill resigning for "personal reasons" and Joker Phillips calling it quits in June of last season.
The wide receivers coaching position has also featured at one time, a graduate assistant and at another, former quarterback Chris Leak who had previously been a quality control coach.
Leak is no longer on Florida’s staff, and McElwain hopes this wide receivers coach will be the one that sticks.
