Here at the Editorial Board, we like money, and we aren't afraid to admit it.

Maybe it's because we don't see it all that often. Regardless of the reason, we're pro-money. We think it's a good thing to have.

We don't really understand, though, having $285,000 extra thrown at someone during a time when millions of others are losing sleep and turning gray trying to make ends meet on $8 an hour.

Nothing personal, Bernie.

You have a substantial salary as is. You have a car allowance.

Do you need another quarter million-plus to handle your bills?

We hope the Board of Trustees approves your bonus, but even more so, we hope you will follow in the footsteps of several other university leaders by refusing to accept your bonus this year.

Millions of people are struggling to find work, and you're having money handed to you on a silver platter.

We would love to be in your position, and we assume it would be incredibly difficult to turn down a $285,000 pat on the back for a job well done.

Hell, if somebody wanted to tell us our editorials were "righteous" and "kick-ass," and then offered to shotgun a beer with us, we would pee our pants with excitement.

Listen, Mr. President, we can only imagine how far that amount of money could go, but for the sake of economy (and nobility), please refuse your bonus if it gets approved.

Unless, of course, you want to give the Editorial Board front-row seats to the BCS Championship game in Miami.
