New head football coach Jim McElwain speaks at his opening press conference in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

Mere hours after offensive lineman Richerd Desir-Jones announced his verbal commitment to UF on Twitter, the Florida football team received a second commitment on Saturday.

Three-star offensive tackle recruit Fredrick Johnson (6-foot-8, 285 pounds, Royal Palm Beach High, West Palm Beach, Florida) announced his commitment to UF on Twitter.

“UF COMMIT!!!!! #THESWAMP #ChompChompx2” Johnson tweeted from his personal account (@climax_14) at 10:09 p.m. Saturday.

Twelve minutes later, Johnson thanked UF offensive lineman Rod Johnson on Twitter for helping “make this decision easy.”

The Gators now have 12 verbal commitments — five of whom are offensive linemen — in their 2015 recruiting class. Florida’s class is now tied for 83rd in the country with Temple, according to Rivals.com.

Verbal commitments are non-binding until a national letter of intent is signed on National Signing Day on Feb. 4.
