The No. 8 UF men's golf team ended Friday in the same position they started it in.

At the end of the second round of the NCAA Southwest Regional in Austin, Texas, the Gators maintained their third-place position. The team shot 3 over par for the day, pushing its score to 12 over par for the tournament.

Junior Tyson Alexander was the star on Friday with a score of 3 under par. Alexander only got better as the day went on, as he shot the 3 under par on his last nine holes of the day.

Another promising sign for the Gators was junior Tim McKenney's play. He bounced back from a first-round performance of 5 over par and shot even par in the second round.

The highlight of the day came from Jackson State's Clay Myers, who shot a hole-in-one on the eigth hole, a par three.

UF will enter the final round of the event just 4 strokes behind first-place Texas. The team made it clear that its goal heading into the tournament was to come out on top. Nonetheless, the top five teams will advance to the NCAA Championships.
