Two organizations are moving into the Reitz Union today.
Student Government and Student Activities and Involvement are now on the third floor of the renovated Reitz Union. During the week, SAI will host free tours for students interested in seeing the features of its new office. The full Reitz will host its grand opening Feb. 20.
Students who work in these offices spent the weekend moving materials, computers, files and records, said Student Body Vice President Kevin Doan. SG’s offices have been on the second floor of the old Reitz since Fall.
Tori Remington, the SAI marketing coordinator, said she is looking forward to the move. A new graphic and copy center will open on the second floor behind the SAI information desk to help student organizations create fliers and graphics, she said.
“We are going to have a lot more resources in the new space for student organizations, as well as sororities, fraternities and Student Government,” Remington said.
This week, ambassadors will be on Turlington Plaza and the Plaza of the Americas to tell students the offices are open, she said.
Doan said he’s been working in a cramped temporary office with about ten other people.
“It’s been a long time coming,” the 20-year-old UF finance junior said. “I’ve been looking forward to this since I started my term.”
