UF reported 362 COVID-19 positive cases among students in the last week on Tuesday, according to UF’s testing dashboard. Last Monday, the university had nearly 500 total student positives since the start of the semester. Now, the total positive student cases for Spring is 854.
Since Jan. 11, 159 UF employees and 96 UF-affiliated employees have tested positive. There have been 1,109 total positive cases in the UF community so far this Spring. There were 1,542 cases at the same point in the Fall semester.
Quarantine numbers reached a semester low on Jan. 24 with 856 students and faculty in quarantine, but reached 978 on Monday. This is still below the peak of 1,286 UF employees, affiliates and students who were quarantining on Jan. 16.
The number of students in isolation fluctuates as they go in and out of quarantine and back to campus, Sara Tanner, the UF student affairs director, wrote in an email.
UF’s quarantine availability for students living on campus settled with 89% of space available on Monday and Tuesday. It was at its fullest this semester Thursday through Saturday with 86% availability.
Adult ICU availability measured at 10.77% (28 beds) available for UF Health Shands Hospital and 20.83% (10 beds) available for North Florida Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, according to the AHCA for Florida.
