Has Hollywood gotten tired of making the same car movies? Things blowing up, the characters being on the edge of death, but just barely scraping by? The answer is no!
And I don’t think the audience has either. With major actors like Paul Walker, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and my personal favorite, Vin Diesel, part six of the Fast & Furious movies won’t disappoint those that have followed since the beginning.
In Furious 6, Dominique Toretto (Diesel) teams up with Luke Hobbs (Johnson), but what’s his motivation for partnering with Fast Five’s “villain?" He may know a little something about Dom’s long-time sweetheart, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) who was claimed dead two movies prior.
Now with only a recent photograph of her as his guide, Dom and Bryan O’Connor (Walker) join up to find her, only to realize she is the ruthless second-in-command in a gang of skilled mercenary drivers. We don’t know their name, but vehicular warfare is their game
With this new information about Letty, Dom could probably find her and confront her on his own, but what’s the catch? As the team in Rio successfully stole millions in the last movie, they are still sleeping with one eye open, always being pursued by the Feds. As Hobbs asks Toretto to form his team once again, their only condition is full pardons so that they all may live their lives in peace.
This storyline takes place in London and the old cast consisting of the above followed by Jordana Brewster and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, are also joined by newcomers Luke Evans, this film’s villain and Gina Carano, Hobb’s BAMF partner.
Because Fast Five was the best in the series thus far (in box office sales and audience preference), director Justin Lin has the hard job of one-upping his own work. Furious 6 comes out May 24 and I can assure you I’ll be first in line at the midnight viewing.
