I'm tired of people being enraged at the few Christians who actually follow what the good book commands. In the same way evangelicals say, "Don't hate the sinner, hate the sin," I say, "Don't hate the Christian."

John 14:6 reads, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

According to the Bible, Gandhi and all the victims of the Holocaust are burning in hell because they did not accept Him as their lord and savior.

This belief is an integral part of Christianity. To chastise those who don't pick and choose from the Bible, but instead choose to follow it entirely, shows the hypocrisy of how we treat religion in America.

As for a student's right to free speech and a school's demand that a student change his or her shirt or be dismissed, I wonder if the Alligator would have defended an atheist student wearing a shirt that read, "There is no God."

I defend the right of students to express their religion everywhere, including in our nation's public schools.

This letter has been edited since publication, removing instances of the author's own religion.
