Why does the Unite Party get so outraged whenever it is criticized?
Most people would agree with the fairly expressed criticism of the Unite Party.
It takes thousands in student money for personal perks like student-subsidized meal cards, parking decals and cell phone plans.
It rushed to impose a big Reitz Union fee (not covered by Bright Futures) on every student without telling anyone the total cost of the proposal or how long it will last.
It completely dropped the ball on protecting Bright Futures, putting its faith in weekend trips to Tallahassee (totally fruitless) and in paying an inept lobbyist (who evidently spends more time working for his other clients in the insurance industry than for us).
Yet whenever someone calls out the Unite Party with reasonable criticism, it sends out its people to personally attack anybody who disagrees with them. In the past few days, it has said that its opponents want the Reitz Union to crumble (when in fact all its opponents disagreed with was a massive fee) and even compared its political rivals to serial killers.
This is America. While the Unite Party may feel threatened by those who disagree, it should at least tone down its absurd, overblown rhetoric and stop lashing out at its opponents.
