Florida sophomore Erik Murphy and freshman Cody Larson were arrested early Sunday morning on third-degree felony burglary charges, according to the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office.
The two were taken into custody in St. Augustine at approximately 4 a.m. and were later released on $5,000 bond.
According to News4Jax.com, Murphy, 20, and Larson, 19, broke into a car outside Scarlett O’Hara’s Bar and Restaurant after claiming to have lost a wallet.
Larson and Murphy were reportedly trying to get close to a worker counting money before a bouncer asked them to leave. The victim, an employee of the bar, did not notice any missing items, according to St. Augustine Police.
Joshua Adel, a team manager, is also charged with principal to burglary, according to News4Jax.com.
Larson is amid a two-year probation period following a misdemeanor drug charge in his hometown of Sioux Falls, S.D. He was sentenced in May for sharing Hydrocodone pills with a Roosevelt High teammate and inhabiting a room where drugs were stored and used.
Larson redshirted this season, while Murphy averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per game as a sophomore.
A UF spokesman could not be reached for comment late Sunday night.
