Sen. John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate shows his inability to comprehend what Sen. Hillary Clinton's female supporters really stood for. In view of Palin's ultraconservative views, to believe that her gender alone would cause Clinton supporters to run in McCain's direction because of some estrogen gravitational pull truly insults female intelligence.

Clinton's female supporters loved her not just because she was a woman, but because of her support for women's rights. While not on hunting trips shooting at innocent critters, Palin will tell you how she is a pro-life radical, taking a stand against abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

During her most recent pregnancy, she had an amniocentesis, which risked the fetus's life.

The risk is small, but wouldn't someone as pro-life as Palin think that the fetus's life deserves the right not to be put in jeopardy?

Meanwhile, Clinton has a 100 percent pro-choice rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America, and the NRA gave her an F for her stance on Second Amendment issues in 2006. Palin and Clinton are polar opposites.

What if something happened to McCain if he were elected? Do we want to run the risk of having a commander in chief with zero foreign policy experience? What if he eats a pretzel? A pretzel almost killed President Bush.
