Name brand cosmetics for drug store prices: part two

As promised, ladies, here is the part two of the trilogy of Name Brand Cosmetics for Drug Store Prices. Today I am going to touch base on three other vital parts to every girl’s make-up routine: Primer, blush and make-up setters.

I honestly should’ve put primer in my first post because it should be the very first step you take when applying make-up for any occasion. When you hear the word “primer,” you might be thinking about what to do before you paint your walls. Not quite, but it has basically the same effect. Cosmetic primers are creams or lotions applied before another cosmetic to improve coverage and stretch out the amount of time the cosmetic lasts on the face. I’m hoping the painting reference makes since to most of you now. The same reason why you would apply primer to your kitchen walls before putting on the actual colored paint relates directly to the application of make-up, especially if you are creating a look that needs to last you a while. There are basically primers for any and everything you could imagine such as foundation, eye shadow, lip stick, and eye lash primers, but today I’m going to focus on the foundation primer, but keep in mind that all of the different primers have the same effect.

I personally use Bare Mineral’s Prime Time Foundation Primer for oil control, so I guess I don’t really have any room to talk, but if I would have did my research before I bought it, I would’ve found that E.L.F. created an all-over face primer called Studio Mineral Infused Face Primer for $6! The Prime Time I use is $23 and is only 1 fl oz.

Moving on to blush, MAC is my favorite brand of cosmetics, but they are so pricey. I used to own MAC’s Powder Blush Pro Palette Refill Pan, which was $17.00 per blush circle until I found Cover Girl’s Cheekers Blush which is only $3.15 online! Swear! Blush is kinda tricky, but definitely a necessity in my opinion for every girl. Sometimes you have to test out multiple colors and palettes before you find the appropriate shade for your face. If that is the case for you, why in God’s name would you want to spend almost $20 per test run?

Moving on to make-up setters, if you don’t know what a make-up setter is for, you’re seriously missing out. Make-up setters are really beneficial to girls with oiler skin types and it keeps you from having to touch up or reapply make-up throughout the night. I personally use Sephora’s Tarte Smooth Operator, which does work like magic, I’ll admit, but you have to pay soooo much for magic and the magic doesn’t last that long. I pay $29 per little container, but I found a new make-up setter recently that I am absolutely in love with, as is my wallet: E.L.F. Studio Makeup Mist and Set Spray… it’s only $3. 29..3..29..3.. Is there really even a decision to be made here?
