In response to Ms. Appleton's July 15 editorial letter, I have to ask: How dangerous are scooters to students in the first place? How many on-campus accidents have there been between pedestrians and scooters?
The real danger I have seen in my four years here are the bicyclists who feel the laws of the road do not apply to them. Countless times I have been forced off of a sidewalk due to a speeding Lance Armstrong impersonator.
When students buy scooters, they are doing so because it is the most efficient form of transportation at this school. The Regional Transit System is a great service, but the fact of the matter is, RTS buses do not run efficiently enough. Students who have been late to a morning class because full buses have passed them by can attest to this inefficiency.
