Michael Belle's Wednesday column was very interesting to read. But I wanted to focus on one particular point I couldn't agree with more: "Becoming the right person instead of stumbling on top of the right person." A close friend and I both recently came to this conclusion!
I have realized that everyone is in search of the "right one."
We walk into a room; we meet a friend's friend; we make eye contact with that person, all the while wondering "is this the one?"
Even cynics, which I claim to be, ponder this question.
I find myself wasting so much time looking for the "right one" that I lose opportunities to improve myself. I lose moments to learn something new to better myself. I don't take that cooking class Thursday night because what if a friend throws a barbecue and "the one" is there? What if I miss him?
Stepping back and looking at this thought process really puts it in black and white. I spend too much time worrying about "the one" and less time improving myself and being the person that God wants me to be. What a waste. It will all happen in His timing. Nothing I do will make it happen sooner or later.
I was excited that someone else had the same revelation I did. I hope you have a great day.
