I was extremely offended and surprised by LaShanta Harris' letter published in the May 27 edition of the Alligator regarding the cartoon with black hands.
I don't understand what has to be done in this country to avoid being racist!
Would it be okay if the cartoon had white hands? Or red? Or yellow? Would it still be racist then?
Racism is truly kept alive by those who look for it.
I never even noticed that the hands were black.
And I'm sure I wouldn't care what color they were.
To limit someone's creative ability for the risk of it coming off racist is ridiculous.
But I guess the solution is simple: purple hands from now on.
