Four Gainesville men face charges after a drive-by shooting downtown early Sunday.
The shooting, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. at 100 NW 1st Ave. next to Wells Fargo, resulted in no injuries, according to a Gainesville Police Department press release. People in a silver Kia Soul shot toward a crowd about a quarter of a mile northeast of the May downtown parking lot shooting before police pursued the car.
It is unclear if the shooters were targeting police officers or specific people, GPD spokesman Graham Glover said.
The car fled from police and crashed at 3100 North Main Street near Parks Hyundai of Gainesville. The crash did not lead to injury, according to the release.
The four men — 25-year-old Joseph Cromwell, 23-year-old Akwan Osborne, 22-year-old Jeremiah White and 23-year-old Austin Dow — were charged for resistance without violence Sunday afternoon.
Police found two firearms — one in the car and one on their escape route — according to the statement.
Osborne, Dow and Cromwell face attempted homicide and firearm discharge charges. Cromwell also faces charges for fleeing police and the scene of an accident. Cromwell and Dow both have prior firearm and drug possession convictions and have bonds of $130,000.
Osborne faces a charge for carrying a concealed firearm, and Dow faces a charge for possessing one as a convicted felon. White was previously convicted of burglary and theft. Osborne and White have bonds of $110,000.
