You’ve finally found your summer beau, but there is only one problem: the two of you can’t decide on what you’d like to do or where you want to go.

Here are five outdoor date ideas you can do right here in Gainesville that will keep your budding relationship fun and exciting this summer:

Lake Wauburg

This date idea is especially easy if both of you are students at UF. With your valid Gator 1 Card you can go sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing and more. Activity dates are great for bringing out competitive sides and lessening any first-date awkwardness. But, if you and your date just want to relax, head to Lake Wauburg for a simple picnic and swim in the lake, too.

Stargazing

A night under the stars is perfect if you’re in the mood for a romantic evening. Personally, I think the best view is from Paynes Prairie when they have their stargazing events. However, any place without an enormous amount of light will do the trick if none are on the park’s schedule.

Farmers Market

Foodie couples can head to The Alachua County Farmers Market on a Saturday morning. This is a great place to get to know each other, and you can even use the food you bought to make a meal together afterward.

Swim and Grill

You don’t have to wait until Fourth of July to have a barbecue. If you, your significant other or a mutual friend is living in an apartment this summer, get a group together to hang out by the pool for a day. Most apartment complexes have a barbecue near their pool. You can grill some burgers, take a swim and get to know your beau and his or her friends.

Ginnie Springs

If Gainesville’s famous 90-degree weather is making it hard to go outside, take your summer fling and head to Ginnie Springs for some tubing and scuba diving. Admission and equipment rental fees can quickly add up; you might want to check out the group fees and go with a few of your friends! This is a great way to catch some rays and relax with your date.

Summer is about exploring. The sun is shining, and the tans are glowing. Avoid the standard dinner and a movie, and get outside. Don’t be afraid to think of something new to experience with your summer love!
