The cold weather blew in and took UF students by surprise Wednesday when the weather dropped to the 40s. But the cold snap is temporary.
WRUF chief meteorologist Jeff Huffman wrote in an email that Wednesday night was the coldest night of the fall season so far.
He said a freeze is not expected in Gainesville, and the next cold front is expected to set in Monday or Tuesday of next week.
Meanwhile, Huffman recommended Wednesday that students bundle up. Many found they were unprepared.
“I wish I had shoes for it,” said Rebekah Plazewski, a 20-year-old UF telecommunication junior wearing flip-flops.
December Slater, a 20-year-old UF exploratory sophomore, joked about the weather.
“I think it’s hysterical two or three days ago we were at 90,” she said.
Travis Swanson, an 18-year-old UF applied physiology and kinesiology freshman, complained the temperatures were short-lived.
“I want it to stay, but it’s Florida weather, so it won’t,” he said.
