Will Grier runs onto the field during Florida's 14-9 win against Kentucky on Sept. 19 at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky. West Virginia announced on April 6, 2016, that Grier was transferring to WVU.

Will Grier has found a landing spot.

The former UF quarterback will transfer to West Virginia, WVU announced Wednesday, and will sit out the 2016 season per the NCAA’s transfer rules.

Grier led the Gators to a 6-0 start in 2015 before being suspended for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

During those six games, the quarterback threw for 1,204 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions, completing over 65 percent of his passes.

Grier, who came to Gainesville as the No. 2-ranked dual-threat quarterback prospect in the 2014 recruiting class according to Rivals.com, expressed his intention to transfer to coach Jim McElwain after finishing his exams at the end of the 2015 Fall semester.

It is unclear when Grier will be eligible to play for the Mountaineers.

Had he remained at Florida, he was scheduled to be eligible by UF’s Oct. 15 game against Missouri, 12 months after his suspension began.

However, the NCAA hasn’t stated whether the 12-month suspension will be satisfied through the year Grier sits out as a transfer, or whether he will still need to serve an additional six-game suspension to start the 2017 season.
