A UF Student Government-sponsored concert Monday hosted four bands: The Expendables, Reel Big Fish, Pepper and Less Jake Than Jake.
The crowd of more than 1,000 danced, jumped and cheered to the beat of the music, which carried over UF's Flavet Field.
The California band The Expendables opened the concert at dusk.
"They are unlike any other band because they are an eclectic down-temple-dub band infused with reggae and ska," said Rian Bosh, a 22-year-old UF student.
The second band to perform, Reel Big Fish, played atop a stage that constantly changed colors with the flood of the bright stage lights.
Reel Big Fish's lead singer jumped up and down to the beat of his band's music and proclaimed his six-man band "masters of music."
Reel Big Fish demonstrated their musical skill by playing their song "Suburban Rhythm" in a reggae, disco, western, jazz, and death metal mix-version.
The three-man band Pepper took the stage next to deafening cheers from the crowd.
As the band began playing, crowd surfers fluidly floated over the hands of the audience.
The band complimented UF for "boasting the most beautiful women."
"Pepper rocks my world. They are good people and they make good music," said Nicole Vasquez, an 18-year-old UF freshman.
One of the band's songs prompted several women to hoist themselves onto the shoulders of some male attendees and remove their shirts.
The concert headliner Less Than Jake, a Gainesville band, performed last.
