UF's world-famous and exceedingly popular "Go Gator Nation" ad campaign has finally come to a end.

Finally. Thank the advertising gods.

We're as pro-Gator as everyone else, but those commercials were so cheesy and corny that they were almost vomit-inducing.

Go cure cancer? That's cool. Everyone wants to do that. We'll stand by that one.

Go write the great American novel? Not so much. Maybe if they said, "Go start a blog about your least favorite ad campaigns," it would've hit home.

Go to Mars? Sure thing, chief - we're right behind you. That one doesn't even sound nice.

Don't get us wrong, the lines were worth reusing because they usually garner at least a hey-I-kind-of-remember-what-you're-talking-about sentiment, which comes in handy when you're at the UF-Georgia game and the Jäger is urging you to address each orange-and-blue-clad alumni you see circling the Jacksonville Landing.

For those few-and-far-between instances, the Editorial Board is grateful.

But no one can argue the absurdity of passing by mirrored windows and seeing yourself in an astronaut's space suit.

Every time we look at our reflections all we see is a sweatier version of ourselves with bags under our eyes and a stain on our shirts that managed to dodge the magical powers of our ever-present Tide to Go pens.

We'll miss the "Go Gator Nation" ads for their chronic, and sometimes nauseating, cheerfulness, but we can't wait to see how UF will top that classic series.
