Dump truck flips over onto two cars

A man driving a Florida Concrete Recycling truck crashed into two parked cars at an apartment complex Wednesday.

The driver was headed west on Southwest 16th Avenue when he crashed into the metal railing and a utility pole before flipping over and crashing into the cars of two Sun Island residents, according to Gainesville Police officer Alan Davis.

An off-duty officer saw the crash and stopped to assist the driver, Davis said.

UF doctoral student Nabanita Mukherjee said she was in her room when she heard a noise and went outside to see what caused it.

The impact caused damage to the right side of Mukherjee's car, shattered her rear windshield and flattened her tires.

An official accident report will be available today, according to GPD spokesman Keith Kameg.

Employees of Florida Concrete Recycling Inc. declined to comment.
