Thursday’s Florida game at Vanderbilt has been canceled after the Commodores chose to end their season Monday.
The two teams were originally slated to play on Dec. 31 before Vanderbilt’s program endured positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing, resulting in the game being postponed to Jan. 21. They were scheduled to meet again Feb. 4 in Gainesville, but that game will no longer be played either.
The SEC plans to mark all games played against the Commodores as “no contest,” which means none of their games will count toward the final SEC standings.
The Gators will head to Oxford, Mississippi, Sunday for their next game against the Ole Miss Rebels at 3 p.m. at The Pavilion. Ole Miss enters Sunday’s matchup just a half game above Florida in the current SEC standings as the Rebels sit at 1-4.
Ole Miss boasts a 7-4 overall record and a 6-2 home record this season. Florida’s win against Auburn improved its overall record to 8-6, but the Gators remain 1-4 on the road this season.
