Pop-Tarts are officially Gator bait.
UF is one of the five universities Kellogg Co. has partnered with to launch limited-edition Pop-Tarts. ESPN reporter Darren Rovell broke the breakfast-pastry news on Twitter on Monday.
University of Florida Florida Gators’ Strawberry Pop-Tarts will be on local shelves early next month, according to Dick Podiak, Pop-Tarts marketing director.
The Gators Pop-Tarts have white icing with the iconic Gators logo printed onto them. They’re priced the same as other Pop-Tart varieties’. They can also be purchased at PopTartsWorld.com, according to Podiak.
Printed Fun Pop-Tarts will also be available in Tar Heel Berry, University of Georgia Bulldog Berry, University of Michigan Go Blue Strawberry and Arkansas Razorbacks Razorback Red.
“If I was to eat a Pop-Tart, I would try it, just because it’s Gators,” said 21-year-old electrical engineering senior Brittany Finch.
Some UF students weren’t so sure.
“It’s cute, but I won’t eat them,” said material science junior Brandy Mobley, 22. She said she’d prefer the Pop-Tarts were s’mores-flavored because the strawberry ones have too much crust.
Finch agreed and suggested a way to get students all over campus eating the toaster treats.
“They should give free samples,” she said.
