“Les Miserables” is a tale of salvation, and that’s just what Gainesville Community Playhouse expects to show in its own production.

The community theater is ready to get back on its feet with a surefire season, beginning with “Les Miserables,” which will open Friday night and run through Oct. 19 at the Vam York Theater.

The community theater is seeking revival from financial struggles through the revolutionary story that has reached millions around the world.

“I expect or hope that it will raise the money it needs to raise,” said Daniel Christophy, the show’s director. “I also hope it does well to bring to light what talent we have in Gainesville.”

Christophy said the 210-seat theater, located at 4039 NW 16th Blvd., is expected to fill with people because of how popular and in demand the show is.

“We’ve got the most talented singers that I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. There’s not a weak link in this cast,” said Thomas Sanders, who plays the antagonist, Javert.

Sanders has been part of the community since 2006, but he is better known for his comedic and song-filled personality on Vine. He has more than three million Vine followers and is the winner of Ryan Seacrest’s Favorite Vine Celebrity Contest, but Sanders still remains a loyal member of the theater’s family.

Regular admission is $20, senior admission is $16 and students with IDs and children can purchase tickets for $12. Tickets can be purchased through the box office at 352-376-4949.
