Paraphernalia possession in residence hall burns UF student

The smell of marijuana in a UF residence hall led to the arrest of a student Thursday night.

University Police arrested Charles Mitchell Fullerton, an 18-year-old student from Jacksonville, after an officer found marijuana, a fake ID and 28 drug paraphernalia items in his Broward Hall dorm room, according to a UPD arrest report.

At about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, UPD Officer Takydra Robinson responded to a call reporting the smell of narcotics inside Broward Hall.

While investigating the dorm’s fourth floor, Robinson reported smelling burnt marijuana coming from Room 444.

She knocked on the door, and when Fullerton answered, a “very strong smell of burned marijuana exited the room,” Robinson wrote in the report.

Fullerton consented to a search of his room, and Robinson reported finding marijuana and a false driver’s license.

She also found seven smoking devices, four grinders, 13 bags/containers, one joint roller, one package of hemp rolling paper, one packet of pipe screens and one Smokebuddy air filter, according to the report.

Robinson arrested Fullerton and took him to UPD headquarters.

Later that night, police booked Fullerton into Alachua County Jail.

UPD charged him with possession of marijuana and a false driver’s license, as well as 28 counts of drug paraphernalia possession.

Fullerton was released Friday afternoon.
