Students will once again be able to catch a break on their textbook expenses for one day this fall.
Student Government is partnering with the UF Bookstore in the Reitz Union to bring back Discount Day, or Sales Tax Relief Day.
Students will be exempt from paying the sales tax on textbooks bought in store Aug. 22.
This will be the third Sales Tax Relief Day in three years, and Student Body President Ben Meyers said he really wants to see students take advantage of the discount.
"We're really trying to boost it up this year," he said.
The main goal right now is to make students aware of the event.
Meyers said the discount applies only on Aug. 22 and only in-store. While it only applies to textbooks, he said he is working with Reitz Union Business Services and the UF Bookstore to extend the exemption to school supplies.
The day would not be possible without the help of the two groups, he said.
"They've been extremely helpful and they definitely realize what a service it is for students," Meyers said.
