An Ocala man allegedly took Gainesville Police on a chase inside a downtown parking garage Friday.
At about 2:30 a.m., an officer saw Kajuan Lamonte Brewton, 18, driving the wrong way on Southwest Second Street, according to a Gainesville Police arrest report. The officer repeatedly told Brewton to stop, but he continued driving.
He then drove into a parking garage at 105 SW Third St., the report said. Police found Brewton in the car on the third floor.
He reversed the truck and began making circles around the third floor, eventually going to the fifth floor, the report said.
There, Brewton and passengers got out of the truck, the report said. The passengers complied with an officer telling them to stop, and then Brewton ran down a stairwell.
He tried to give a person in the stairwell his truck keys, but police confronted him, the report said. He threw the keys at the person and then ran to the fourth floor.
An officer went to the fifth floor and saw Brewton running up the ramp in his direction, the report said. When Brewton saw the officer, he turned around and ran away from him, but another officer caught him.
Brewton was charged with resisting an officer without violence, fleeing an officer and driving with knowledge of a suspended or revoked license, the report said.
He remained in the Alachua County Jail Sunday in lieu of a $28,000 bond.
