Led by Megan Bush’s record-tying performance, No. 2 Florida (29-1,
6-0 SEC) dismantled Ole Miss (10-20, 0-5 SEC) 18-3 in Oxford, Ms.
The senior first baseman tied former Gator, Melissa Zick, with a
school-record seven RBIs, increasing her season total to a
team-leading 51.
Bush feasted on the Rebels’ pitchers all day, going a perfect 3 for
3 at the plate including a three-run homer in the second
inning.
She followed with a two-run double in the third, as the Gators’
offense scored double-digit runs for the ninth time this
season.
Besides Brittany Schutte and Ensley Gammel, every Gator had at
least one hit, and all scored at least one run.
Seniors Aja Paculba and Kelsey Bruder continued their hot hitting,
combining for six runs scored and four RBIs.
Despite her offensive inconsistencies this year, freshman Kasey
Fagan, who was recently moved to the seventh hole after hitting
ninth most of the season, rewarded coach Tim Walton with a solid
day at the plate.
UF’s starting third baseman drew two walks and crushed her second
grand slam of the season to cap off a seven-run first inning.
Starting her fourth game in four days, freshman Hannah Rogers
dominated in her three innings of work, allowing only a single and
no walks in her 15th win.
Gammel came on to pitch the final two innings, but surrendered two
earned runs on two walks and two hits.
The Gators will wrap up the series Sunday at 2 p.m.
