Summer is definitely the time of year to be flirtier, especially when it comes to fragrances. I've done some research at Sephora and concocted a list of this summer's must-have scents for guys and girls.
In the guys category, the first obvious choice is a new scent from Hugo Boss called "Pure." Its manly, musky smell composed of lily, hyacinth, fig water and a wood base exudes masculinity. The aquatic concept behind "Pure" gently subdues the fragrance's intensity, making it the perfect choice for summer activities.
The second, Yves Saint Laurent's "L'Homme," is slightly sweeter than "Pure" but still retains an innate masculinity. This is a mature fragrance that reminds me of a Parisian man strolling down the Champs Elysées with his gorgeous date. This is definitely a fragrance for evening, as it is too intense for daily wear.
The third cologne should be, in my opinion, an essential in every man's collection. "Fierce" by Abercrombie & Fitch has been around for years, but it is still quite possibly the sexiest cologne on the market. Its name says it all, as its scent is strong and attractive. This cologne can be worn for any and every occasion, and can be the perfect fallback when you're unsure of what to wear.
As for the ladies, I found three incredibly flirty scents for summer. The first, Yves Saint Laurent's "Elle," is romantic and flowery. I can't help but think that if I ever met Marilyn Monroe, this is the type of perfume she would wear. Its base is composed of peony, which makes for a very unexpected and feminine scent. This is the perfect choice for a first date or a night out with your girls.
The next one, Salvatore Ferragamo's "Incanto Heaven," is my favorite new summer fragrance. This perfume is this year's equivalent to Escada's "Sunset Heat," which was all the rage last summer. This scent's base is comprised of grapefruit, seringa flower and red apple.
Don't be surprised if you find the boys sitting closer while you're wearing this one.
This last choice takes you to an unexpected place. "Daisy" from Marc Jacobs is unique in that it smells like bananas - in a good way. The scent is subtle, fresh and tasty. It's perfect for ladies that are looking for a scent with both floral and fruity flavors.
On a final note, I have to remind readers that proper perfume etiquette deems it necessary to use control when applying. As with all things, moderation is key.
